Congratulations to Dr. Md. Arafat Al Mamun, Principal Scientist & Head, Fermentation and Pilot Plant Laboratory for his research project awarded 16.00 Lakh BDT under the grant for advanced research in education (GARE) by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.  The Research work is aimed to characterize the phenotypes and genotypes of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) isolated from fermented dairy products in Bangladesh. The LAB will be further characterized by antibiotyping to determine the incidence of antimicrobial resistance and the plasmid pattern will also be evaluated since plasmids play a key role in most of the resistant gene transfer. The main goal of the research is to develop antibiotic resistance free starter cultures for safe production of fermented dairy products in Bangladesh.
