Welcome To Fermentation and Pilot Plant Research Laboratory
Overview:
Fermentation and Pilot Plant Laboratory (FPPL)
has been established in the Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (CARS),
University of Dhaka to carry out research on the development of bioprocess for
production of valuable materials by applying biotechnological approaches.
Fermentation biotechnology can spark industrial development with the
exploitation of microbial processes on local raw materials to produce primary
metabolites (e.g. ethanol, lactic acid, acetic acid), secondary metabolites
such as antibiotics, intermediate metabolites (e.g. amino acid, citric acid,
vitamins), proteins (intracellular/extracellular enzymes) and whole cell
products (e.g. SCP, Baker’s yeast, brewer yeast, probiotics).
Research & Development in fermentation technology is very important to
achieve the goals of 4IR. Therefore, the FPPL is focused on the fermentation
technology for bioprocess of fermented food, feed, fertilizer,
pharmaceuticals, industrial alcohol, lactic acid, acetic acid, citric acid,
bacteriocin, enzymes, Baker’s yeast and probiotic starter cultures.
Research Area:
Fermented food, feed and fertilizer
Microbial starter cultures
Industrial enzymes
